FAQs: Billing

How can I avoid fees?

Knowing our policies is the best way to avoid seeing penalties on your invoices.  Our entire fee structure and all of our policies are clearly laid out in our Member Handbook.  Read through it and give Member Services a call with any questions! It’s also important to communicate with us.  Let us know if you have questions and call us if you ever have an issue during your trip.  Our job is to facilitate car-sharing; we want it to go

How do I read my monthly invoice?

Your monthly invoice will list the actual cost of each reservation (including the mileage and any applicable fees), payments made over the course of the month, and any fees or credits applied to your account.  If you overpaid for your driving, we will credit your PhillyCarShare account the amount due, and you can use those credits for future trips or invoices.  If anything is owed to PhillyCarShare, we will charge your card on the 10th of the month or the

The system defaults to the daily rate from the hourly rate– it happens when your hourly charges reach the daily amount.  You will still need to specify your start and end times, of course. Just like hourly rates, the daily rate does not include mileage or taxes, so the flat rate

How is mileage estimated and how is the actual charge computed?

If you drive on the Philadelphia Plan, we will charge for an estimated amount of mileage upfront.  For every hour you reserve, we will charge you for six miles of driving. This amount will be capped at 72 miles/ day on daily rate reservations. If you drive on the Keystone Plan, there is no mileage estimate.  Your hourly rate includes 185 miles per reservation. While driving, the onboard computer records how many miles you actually drove. At the end of the
