Only if they fill out their own application, get approved, and receive their own fob.  Only authorized PhillyCarShare members are allowed to drive our cars.  Allowing anyone else (including a significant other, roommate, or family member) to drive will result in a large fee and possible termination from PhillyCarShare.  It also creates a huge liability if anything were to happen while a driver we don’t insure is using one of our cars.

We have two different rate plans for residential members.  They have very different benefits, and your choice should depend on how much you think you will be driving. The Philadelphia Plan is our most popular, and is designed for frequent sharers. It takes an average of three to five business days for us to approve an application.  If you’d like to help expedite that process, please take your orientation as quickly as possible and submit any extra documents we need immediately.  If you want to get your membership materials ASAP, we recommend choosing to pick them up in our Center City office rather than having them mailed.

The requirements for those 21 and older are as follows: You need a valid Driver’s License. You need a valid Credit or Debit card. Under 21? You’re in the right place! You can do it all from this site. First, make sure that car sharing is right for you and that you are eligible for enrollment. Next, choose your membership type and fill out the application form.  After applying, you’ll be asked to take a short orientation that explains how membership works.
